Train up a child in the way he should goA Daily Devotional

💗 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6 ESV

💜Question: “What does it mean to train up a child in the way he should go?”

Answer: Solomon’s advice to parents is to “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Raising and training a child within the context of this proverb means that it begins with the Bible, as “all Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training…” (2 Timothy 3:16). Teaching children the truths of Scripture will make them wise for salvation (2 Timothy 3:15); thoroughly equip them to do good works (2 Timothy 3:17); prepare them to give an answer to everyone who asks them the reason for their hope (1 Peter 3:15); and prepare them to withstand the onslaught of cultures bent on indoctrinating young people with secular values.

🌻Teach The Little Children🌻

Teach the little children,
while they are still young
to give thanks to the Lord
in every song that is sung.

Teach them to pray,
for the Holy Spirit’s filling
tell them that it is more
than just a onetime feeling.

Teach them to read and study,
how God would have them go
let them know in the Word
the way He will always show.

Teach them to understand,
for them, God has a plan
let them know it’s not the same
as the world has for man.

Teach them to respect,
themselves and others too
remind them God is looking
at what they say and do.

Teach them to set their sights,
on their heavenly treasures
not the ones here on earth
reeking of worldly pleasures.

Teach them to love God,
with all their heart and soul
let them know Jesus died
so they’d be complete and whole.

Teach them not just on Sundays,
but each and everyday . . .
just how narrow is the gate
so their tender hearts won’t stray.
